Konkurs zorganizowany został pod honorowym patronatem Prezydenta Miasta Radomska i przy merytorycznym wsparciu Miejskiej Biblioteki Publicznej w Radomsku.
Jego celem było:
- Rozbudzanie umiejętności kształtnego i pięknego pisania
- Rozwijanie wrażliwości na piękno ojczystego języka
- Upowszechniania sztuki kaligrafii
- Rozwijanie zainteresowań i talentów uczniów
W zmaganiach kaligraficznych wzięli udział uczniowie z siedmiu szkół miasta Radomska i dwunastu szkół z terenu powiatu i okolic. Na konkurs wpłynęło 221 prac. Poziom umiejętności kaligraficznych uczniów był bardzo wysoki i wyrównany.
